TAMPA, Fla. -- The Cowboys are giving Felix Jones a chance to be their lead
back.
He is acting like he knows what to do with the job.
For the second consecutive week since replacing the injured DeMarco Murray in
the starting lineup, Jones rushed for more than 100 yards Saturday night, and
gave the Cowboys a threat in the running game in their 31-15 victory against
Tampa Bay.
"I thought under the circumstances he had about as good and complete a game as
he's had since he's been a Dallas Cowboy," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.
The loss of Murray to a broken ankle last week means Jones is due to get a lot
of work. Murray was averaging 22 carries a game during his stretch as the
starter before his injury.
Jones met the burden against the Buccaneers.
He carried 22 times, matching his career high, and caught three passes. The 25
touches were a season high, and he accounted for 131 yards.
"He did a great job," quarterback Tony Romo said. "We're lucky to have some
depth at the tailback position. He and DeMarco are some really good tailbacks.
