my wireless ability DIED, new card, no wireless, update, roll back, reinstall, tried all nothing works, help!!

i connected to a hotspot one night, the next day i lost all wireless capability. I reinstalled hardware, software and new card from HP. The device manager only recognizes 801 Broadcom. What adds insult to injury is the D-link usb works but I can't get my Westell modem and Linksys wrt54gs router to play nice together, so I am cord/cable bound when home. Downloaded hotpatches, downloaded, new driver, new software, rolled back drivers, now i am ready to rollUP a fatty and download some Mike Flatley video so i can learn to River Dance....because I am about to do the riverdance on this laptop and smoke me some. And I aint done that in 17 years...for the love of god... help me.
happy new year love and kisses just friggn help my stupid ass. I'm sure the answer is right in front of this empty beach ball that sits on top of my shoulders..

If you've downloaded the latest drivers for your adapter then the next thing you may have to try is to upgrade the firmware of your WRT54GS router....you can get the download from http://www.linksys.com/downloads

After upgrading the firmware if you are still facing the same problem try cahnging Your wireless network setting like the broadcast channel,SSID or network name and security used.
If still nogo and if you're able to connect to hotspots with update drivers then you may have reset the rotuer and reconfigure it....

also try clearing the preferref networks from the wireless connection list window..
