How do you bend aluminum carpet cover strips?
(or carpet binder bars) to go around a curve? Our previous strips that were there were bent nice and flat. Our attempts so far have not been pretty!
Thanks in advance!
For clarification, this edging is going on top of the carpet to finish off the edge between it and linoleum flooring.
If you are talking about what I think you are talking about then I have your answer.... the bottom part that has the teeth that grabs the carpet has to have "V"'s cut in it. Not a very wide one, no more than an 1/8 of an inch . The narrow edge of your "v" cut needs to go all the way to the front of the bottom edge. How sharp the curve is will determine how close together your "v"s need to be. After you cut out your "V"'s you will be able to bend the edge trim and close the V's thus making the curve. never bend one V-cut too sharp or it will Kink. If you see it start to kink. or the top edge roll up then cut you another small "V" on either side of that one. I have done it with cuts one after the other very close together over long spans. It takes time to make it look right. Be sure and have a good pair of "tin snips" Experience is the easiest way but with some practice and patience I know you'll get the hang of it. Hope this helps!! Good Luck!!
