Onkyo TX-NR609 Is Actually A Masterpiece Of A Mid-range Receiver
I want to to upgrade my receiver from a good non hdmi Yamaha HTR-5890 to hdmi just one. Researched a lot of receivers and also bought a Denon AVR990 7. 1-Channel Multi-Zone Cabling do you Receiver with Networking Capability and 1080p HDMI Connectivity. Then I found out this cutting edge receiver Onkyo is releasing and was owing to be out pretty soon. I enjoyed reading the Denon's features, especially the integral HD Radio which I miss in this particular Onkyo. Anyway, I still love the modern Onkyo TX-NR609.
The OSD GUI is fabulous and pleasing to the eye. Pandora, Slacker, vTuner, and DLNA features are very attractive for my likes and will probably use them the most, among the other one 'Internet' features. Connecting my Wii, PS3 SLIM, HTPC, Cable box, and Asus media player was a cinch. I use banana clips for speakers which is very easy to connect. I have a Velodyne powered subwoofer, NHT ones designed for fronts, and Infinity Quadrapoles for encompass back. The TX-NR609 was out with the box and connected in 15 a few minutes. The first time I powered that up and heard the sound, I was pretty happy with the result. I am yet make use of Audyssey to setup my speakers but already for instance sound even before configuring. They took out the Audyssey MultiEQ and provided just the 2EQ we am fine with but some people may well not like that.
I miss the HD Radio that i started getting used to on typically the Denon. I hate the idea that I have to spend another $100+ on a Onkyo UP-HT1 HD Radio Tuner to make use of the HD radio feature on your receiver. This is lame.
The Qdeo video processing is something diffrent. It does an excellent job and therefore the 1080p picture on my Samsung UN55B8500 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz GUIDED HDTV looks amazing. All my components are power conditioned from the Monster Home Theatre Reference HTS 2600 MKII PowerCenter through Clean Power Stage 2 v. 2. 1 10.
Onkyo has made some improvements on the NR609 when compared to the predecessors. There is a fan number one for additional cooling. Seems like Onkyo has finally heard the complaints on the previous owners of over heating receivers. Caused by Onkyo, for adding this extra admirer. The remote is very well laid out and convenient to use. The THX Music and Cinema setting both work really well for my sources.
I highly recommend this Onkyo TX-NR609 for anyone buying fairly priced mid-range AV receiver.
4/5/2011 - The HDMI through was not turned on by default. I was mandated to go into Hardware Setup and turn on "HDMI Control" which also sets "Audio Television set Out" to auto and "HDMI Through" that will on.
There is also additional opportunities setting for HDMI Through. You possess the options to either set HDMI By means of, 'Off' (Default), 'Auto detect', 'Last cause selected' and specific HDMI 'Input jack'. (previous 60x product only offers Last source).
