CalStateLA Admissions...?

I had a few questions.

Let's say I were to have a 3.3 GPA with two CP courses as well as one honor course and one AP course in history, a score of roughly 23 on the ACT for all sections [ball parking as I haven't taken the ACT yet], had been a part of two or three clubs per year of high school and had a good record of volunteer work. What would be my chances of getting accepted into CalStateLA if I wanted to major in Political Science? Is CSULA a respected university? And is it common for someone from the east coast to go to a school in the west coast - such as CSULA?

Lastly, CSULA requires for all admissions that all major classes have at least a C average or higher. if I were to have gotten a D as my final average for Algebra I my freshman year, however received an A in Algebra II my junior year, would I still be unable to apply?
Also, in addition what about UCLA?

All the UC and Cal State school require a 2.0 grade point average or better. Furthermore, all classes must be passes with a C or better. They will not count a class you got a D in it. However, if you re took the class and passed with a C or better than will accept that class. Even though a C is passing the UC's have been over bombarded with applicants and are more selective. Therefore, to get into a UC school you would need at least a 3.5 GPA. Maybe a 3.0 if your sat scores are extremely high. CSULA is a respectable university. Its not considered the best. However, i know people ho go there and they got a good curriculum. The school is accredited as well as their business department. Quite frankly is better economically. tuition is about 1,700 a semester not including books. To answer your question its a good school. Yes you'll get into CSULA easily with a 3.3 gpa.

Nerf Guns Hold the Line Between Startups and Corporatocracy (readwriteweb)

Growing up on the coast Maine we would do all sorts of things to pass the
time. In back of our house was a small stream with steep banks surrounded by a
forest that ran from the tidal sections of the Royal River to the Cousins
River. We called it The Creak. By the time we were about 10 years old or so,
The Creak had become an epic battle ground for the neighborhood kids, would-be
commandos yielding sophisticated weapons chasing each other through the mud
and sticks. It would be my introduction to the Great Nerf Wars.

I had mostly forgotten about the simple joys of Nerf guns. That was until I
started covering technology and spending time at the offices of local
startups. There is a theme that permeates the startup ecosystem from coast-to-
coast - the Nerf gun is king. We decided to take a deep look into this
phenomenon to answer the basic question: Why are startups obsessed with Nerf?
So, we went to go pick a fight.
